Healthy Pantry Initiative
FACES Food Pantry has joined the national Healthy Pantry Initiative, a health-focused, neighbor-centered transformation of the national food pantry network.

Purpose: FACES will implement healthy pantry practices to support the health and nutrition of neighbors facing hunger.

Vision: Neighbors facing hunger can achieve their desired level of health.
Three Point Approach
-
Provide healthier food for all neighbors with specific medical dietary focus on combating hypertension, heart disease, and diabetes, following the Tufts University Healthy Food Guide and the SWAP Program.
-
Encourage neighbors to participate in exercise and healthy movement in partnership with community fitness organizations.
-
Create and distribute to neighbors a list of local resources as a guide for meeting
their health and wellness needs beyond what FACES can provide.

Community Partnerships
Partnerships with local and regional organizations who are able to support the work of FACES, in addition to donations from our local community, are necessary to be able to serve our neighbors the healthiest food possible and distribute it in various ways. The Healthy Pantry Initiative and FACES Marketplace have been supported by Centra Medical, Piedmont Health District, Feed More, and Tri-Boro Shelving.
